RoyOMartin’s Mold-Mildew Disclaimer

RoyOMartin is committed to producing high-quality wood products suitable for residential and commercial construction, as well as for various industrial applications.  We manufacture, store, and load our finished wood products in accordance with the standards set forth by APA, ANSI, HUD/FHA, #VM40C and PRP 133.

RoyOMartin certifies that when plywood and OSB are shipped from our facilities, the products are dry and the product moisture content is below 16%.  According to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, a moisture content of 19% or higher is required for mold to grow.

Listed below are RoyOMartin’s requirements for proper handling, storage, installation, finishing, proper design and construction practices:

  • Delivery – Product will be loaded and dispatched in dry condition.  It should be  received and unloaded undercover and put in dry storage immediately.
  • Job-site Delivery – Material should be kept dry during transport, stored at job site above ground (min 4”) and covered by a moisture barrier (according to APA tech sheet, “Storage and Handling of APA Trademark Panels”).
  • Keep material in well-ventilated areas--off the ground and away from standing water.
  • Use production dates to ensure proper inventory rotation (first in, first out) in all channels of distribution and all the way through to final consumption.
  • Proper installation and finishing of materials should be in conjunction with APA – the Engineered Wood Association – recommendations for Structural Panels.  Contact RoyOMartin for copies or print copies from the APA web site at http://www.apawood.org/

RoyOMartin accepts no responsibility and will deny any responsibility for mold/mildew growth and/or any damages caused by either, whether real or perceived, which occur after the material is loaded for transportation from a RoyOMartin mill.  We strongly recommend that homes are built to APA’s “Build a Better Home Program” for reducing the growth of mold and mildew.
